About Find A Tradie

The problem

Hiring a tradie shouldn't be this hard. You've got a leaking tap, a fence falling down, or a bathroom that needs a reno — but you don't know whether you need a plumber, a carpenter, or a handyperson. You search online and find marketplace platforms full of unqualified gig workers, or you spend an hour calling around for quotes that never arrive.

What we do differently

Find A Tradie takes a different approach:

• You describe the job, not the trade. Tell us what needs doing in your own words — "the power keeps tripping in the kitchen" or "the fence blew down in the storm." We work out which trade you need.
• Every tradie is licence-checked. We verify that tradies on our platform hold the correct NSW contractor licence for their trade category. Specialist trades (electrical, plumbing, gas, air conditioning) require a licence for any work. Trade work (carpentry, painting, tiling, and more) requires a licence for work over $5,000.
• Complaint-screened on Verify NSW. We screen tradies against NSW Fair Trading records for complaints, disciplinary actions, and licence conditions.
• Local to your area. We match tradies who actually service your suburb — not contractors who'll charge you travel from the other side of the city.
• Free for homeowners. Requesting quotes costs nothing. No sign-up fee, no platform commission, no obligation to accept any quote.

How it works

1. Describe the job — use your own words. Add a photo if you've got one.
2. We identify the trade — our system determines which trade(s) your job needs and what licences are required.
3. Get up to 3 quotes — we send your job to verified local tradies. They contact you with a quote.
4. You choose — compare quotes on price, availability, and reputation. Pick who does the work.

• Specialist work (licence required regardless of cost) — Electrician, Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
• Trade work (licence required over $5,000) — Carpenter, Painter, Tiler, Bricklayer, Fencer, Concreter, Roof Plumber, Roof Tiler, Glazier, Waterproofer, Plasterer, Excavator, Metal Fabricator, Joiner, Stonemason
• Other building work (licence required over $5,000) — Kitchen/Bathroom/Laundry Renovation, Structural Landscaping, Swimming Pool Building
