Concreter cost Adelaide — driveways, paths & slabs (2026 prices)
Concrete work is one of those jobs where getting it right the first time matters — you can't easily fix a badly poured slab. Here's what Adelaide concreters charge and what to look for.
Concrete costs per square metre
- Plain concrete (broom finish) — $60–$90/m²
- Coloured concrete — $80–$120/m²
- Exposed aggregate — $100–$160/m²
- Stamped/stencilled concrete — $100–$150/m²
- Honed/polished concrete — $120–$200/m²
Common job costs
- Single driveway (40-60m²) — $3,000–$8,000
- Double driveway (60-90m²) — $5,000–$14,000
- Garden path (10-20m²) — $800–$2,500
- Shed slab (20-30m²) — $1,500–$3,500
- Pool surround (20-40m²) — $2,500–$7,000
- Crossover/council verge — $2,000–$4,500 (council permit required)
What affects the price
Site preparation is often the hidden cost. If the existing surface needs demolition and removal (old concrete, pavers, tree stumps), that's additional labour and disposal. Sloped sites need formwork and sometimes retaining edges. Poor drainage requires ag-pipe installation under the slab.
Reinforcement matters for driveways — steel mesh or reo bar prevents cracking under vehicle weight. Any driveway quote that doesn't include reinforcement is a red flag.
